Rules for co-supervision and cotutelle agreements

In the case of joint supervision, the second thesis supervisor must hold an HDR (proof of the qualification must be provided upon enrolment). A joint supervision counts as one doctoral student under supervision.

For CIFRE PhDs where the co-supervisor works in the socio-economic sector, and for cotutelle PhDs where the co-supervisor is affiliated with the partner university abroad, co-supervisors are approved by the Doctoral School management based on a CV and a list of publications. These are individual exemptions. In these cases only, a joint supervision counts as 0.5 of a doctoral student under supervision.
