You do not yet hold an HDR
Comment passer une HDR
HDR defences are not managed by the MIcrobeS Doctoral School. If you wish to defend an HDR, please consult the Université Paris Cité website of the DRIVE – CED and HDR Division – HDR Team.
Autorisation à diriger une thèse (ADT)
A faculty member or researcher who does not hold an HDR, whose team is affiliated with the Doctoral School, may participate as a co-supervisor of a PhD thesis while working towards their HDR. If the co-supervisor obtains their HDR within the first two years of the doctoral student’s PhD, they may request to become the thesis supervisor through the Doctoral School. This change of supervision is only effective once it has been approved by the Doctoral School.
- A non-HDR supervisor may supervise a PhD thesis by applying for an Authorization to Supervise a PhD Thesis (ADT).
- Please note that an ADT can only be granted once.
- ADT applications are assessed at three levels: the Doctoral School management committee (1), the College of Doctoral Schools management committee (2), and the Research Commission of the faculty to which the team is affiliated. Once the ADT has been granted, an official order confirming the ADT is issued by the Research Commission and sent to the ADT applicant by the College of Doctoral Schools (CED).
- Obtaining the official order confirming the ADT is mandatory in order to submit a project to the Doctoral School competition and for the doctoral student’s enrolment in the Doctoral School. Applicants are therefore advised to begin the process as early as January in order to be eligible for the competition.
